Study: Law
Outstanding quality in research and education
As students can sometimes feel anonymous at a large university, the School of Law places great importance on ensuring that its members feel at home and get to know one another. Openness is valued between lecturers and students. The modern library has plenty of natural light and provides the perfect atmosphere for studying. Students never have to go far to find what they need, as the lecture theatres, seminar rooms and library are all in the city center, close to shops, pubs and accommodation, and it does not take long to get out into the beautiful countryside.
The School’s degree programs provide students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge which is complemented by practical components and courses in core skills such as public speaking, negotiating and communication, supported by the Institute of Notary Law and Legal Practice which was founded in 2003. Courses are designed to allow students to adapt quickly to university study including orientation tutorials for new students. Excellent support helps students learn effectively and there is a special preparation course for the State Examination in law.
The School’s location in Erlangen, part of the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, means that it has excellent connections with various local courts, administrative bodies and legal firms, giving students the opportunity to gain practical experience that goes beyond the theory of the classroom in a thriving urban area. Descriptions of the degree programs offered by the School of Law and information on student advice services, application procedures, admission and enrollment are available here (German only).
